Rhododendrons

Although Daphne du Maurier gave rhododendrons a sinister overtone as they lined the drive to Manderley, they are gorgeous. I found them irresistible and have ordered them in tomorrow as the seasonal bunch. With woody stems, the flowers last well if you crush the ends to open the stems so they can drink. They are related to azaleas as you can see by the shape of their flowers. They display best in a vase with a narrow neck so hold them in a good shape. This photo was taken by Ric Frearson last week, ready for the updated website – will be sure to let you know when its live.
Waratah are lovely at the moment. With their dark reds, I thought they’d make a great selection as the $30 bunch. Lastly, the NZ orchids are proving very popular so a cymbidium stem with some vandas to mix in a vase will be the $40 bunch this week. Spoiled for choice this week, let me know what your pick is – info@fridayflowers.com.au
