A week of Asters

Bright local stars, the flower selected for this week’s seasonal bunch is the Aster. The name Aster comes for the ancient Greek word for star and their very pretty flower heads look like stars. In deep bright colours with long stems, there are some very handy uses for these flowers – in the Middle Ages, the English believed they were a plant with healing properties. There was another belief that burning Asters drove away serpents so with the warmer weather coming on and wildlife appearing, they may be useful about the house. More romantically, they symbolise love or daintiness so make a lovely gift if you don’t keep them for yourself. In the lead up to Valentines, flowers are becoming scarce but still some lovely local lilies available as the $30 bunch and a large bunch of lisianthus is the selection for the $40 bunch.
If you would like to order some early romance or stars to be delivered this week then send your request through via email to info@fridayflowers.com.au and some lovely flowers will be delivered to your door.
