King protea – they have just arrived in this week and with a fresh delivery on Thursday, a single stem with some pretty native foliage is the seasonal bunch selection this week. With the title of “king”, you can tell that this is the largest of the family. They are grand, impressive flowers and in a vase make a beautiful display. They are very thirsty and so need checking each day as they can drink close to a vase full in this dry weather. We think their look is dramatic and modern, but their ancestors have been traced back to fossils over 300 million years old. Not so ancient but more old fashioned, the $30 bunch this week is a double bunch of delicate freesias. Colourful and fragrant, they are a pretty vaseful. Finally for the $40 bunch, local roses are the choice. They are loving the cooler temperatures indoors and are truly beautiful.
