With the warm weather coming on, a more hardy selection this week is needed to make sure we can enjoy our flowers for as long as possible. Long elegant stems of kangaroo paw are the seasonal bunch choice this week. Not an elegant name but the velvety heads on these flowers are beautiful, sculptural and quite modern. I have mine in a turquoise vase from the fifties – a hand me down from the grandparents – and with the yellow flowers, they look very cheery in my kitchen. With this heat and no rain, be sure to keep an eye on your water levels in the vase as flowers are drinking plenty.
The $30 bunch is another lover of the heat, a stem of cymbidium orchids. They can be in a vase on their own or some flower lovers have told me they are cutting the flowers off the stem and scattering them in small vases about the house to really enjoy them in every room. However you like to display them, they are just lovely at the moment.
Local ranunculus are still beautiful and so a super double bunch is the $40 selection for this week. Colours range from white through to dark red. With their ruffled petals and full flower heads, they are the “pretty” flower choice for this week and we should take the chance to enjoy them while we can.
If you would like some flowers to enjoy at home or have the pleasure of sending to a friend, just email your requests through to info@fridayflowers.com.au or click on one of the links below and we’ll be sure to have a bunch sent out for you this Friday.
