In case of storms...

This week’s flower is the delphinium - also called larkspur, it is a tall and elegant appearance belies its meaning of fun and lightness. Their name is derived from the Greek word for dolphin referring to the shape of their delicate blossoms.
Delphinium can be blue or white and their very long spires suit a tall vase. To best care for them, they are sensitive to sunlight and heat so need a cool spot in the house with daily water changes as they enjoy alot of water. They have been used in herbal medicine however like most plants and flowers, it is important to clean hands and surfaces of their sap.
The Delphinium plant is said to have been used at the feast of St John and is believed to ward off lightning and witches – which may be useful on Friday the 13th and in case of storms .......
