Iris Murdoch, Irish author
From a local grower, iris in blue, yellow and white are too beautiful to resist this week for our seasonal bunch. The iris is actually a perennial herb grown from a bulb and is named for the Greek mythological figure, Iris. In this romantic myth, Iris was a messenger who would bear wings and carry messages to mortals from heaven. Irises are grown in many different colours around the world but locally, the classic blue, yellow and white varieties appear and are our selected colours this week. For extended vase life, iris enjoy a vase to themselves with their stems cut straight across. They prefer a small amount of water in the vase with a daily top-up.
Yellow and white are also the selected colours of the classic Oriental lily bunch this week. Cooler temperatures are extending the vase lives of these amazing flowers as they may be enjoyed for up to 2 weeks.
Yellow tulips are available this week as a gift wrapped premium bunch.
Enjoy !
