time has come,the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes -- and ships -- and sealing wax --
Of cabbages -- and kings --
And why thea is boiling hot --
And whetheve wings.' Lewis Carroll
The line between vegetables and flowers is very fine and this week's seasonal choice is a gorgeous example of how well it can work. Ornamental cabbage or kale is a unique looking flower with a very large bloom. They are grown just over the border in colours ranging from purples and pinks through to creamy whites. Their large leafy petals are marked with green and are pretty and edible looking all in one. Displayed together in a fish bowl or singly in a row of bud vases they make a beautiful arrangement. Like shoes and sealing wax, they make a wonderful talking point.
The Classic $30 lily bunch is available this week in white or pink. With the recent tornado in Lennox Head, the biggest Lily grower in Aust has lost all of it's crop. Lilies in the next few weeks therefore will be more expensive than normal as other growers attempt to keep up with demand.
Our $40 bunch this week is Tulips. In shades of pink, they are truly beautiful.
If you would like to order some kale, lilies or tulips for this Friday, please send your request through to info@fridayflowers.com.au.
