Time for Smokey Joes

It’s unusual to feature 2 weeks of natives in a row but these creamy white smokey joe protea have just hit their prime and numbers will drop over the next few weeks so time to get in now. Their cream and brown “feathers” have a classic look and are so tactile that the 7 long stems will fill a tall cylinder vase. I also like to steal a stem and cut it short for a vase beside my bed. Protea are thirsty so be sure to check their water regularly to enjoy them for as long as possible. Unlike other flowers, they like strong light as it slows the leaf blackening however they do prefer a cool position – I love to see mine on my covered deck.

The other good news is that a local rose grower who has been out of action since the floods is back and spray roses are on the menu for the $30 bunch so very much looking forward to seeing their lovely flowers available again. For the $40 bunch, 50cm roses have been recommended so with 15 stems, they make a beautiful vaseful.

If you would like some of these beautiful choices for your home this week, please be sure to send your requests through to info@fridayflowers.com.au and some flowers will be dispatched this Friday.
